The biggest names and brightest minds are heading to Big Design this September.
The annual Big Design Conference is a must-attend event for user experience (UX) and usability professionals, digital marketers, designers, content strategists, and developers. Over 1,000 participants attend informative workshops and presentations given by Big Design's roster of speakers, a diverse mix of industry brainiacs, well-known authors, web influencers, application developers, and Oscar and Emmy award winners.
In addition to serving our tech community as event sponsor, projekt202 is proud to be represented at Big Design by four outstanding presenters on the following topics:
Technically Legal: Using Research to Identify Features for Attorney Software
Speaker: Kelly Moran, Principal Experience Researcher, projekt202
1 - 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016
When a software development company couldn’t understand why attorneys weren’t happier with their new document submission software, researchers were called in to find the answers. Using a combination of in-context and lab-based research, the projekt202 team identified key misunderstandings and shortfalls in the offering, ultimately inspiring the development team to call for more exposure to users in future projects. In this presentation, Kelly will review the methodology that led to the software solution.
Big Data + Human Data
Speaker: Aliza Gold, Vice President of Experience Strategy & Insight, projekt202
3 - 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, 2016
Human data, combined with analytic data, is essential to building customer-centric experiences, applications and culture. To do it well, you need to really understand your target and the people whose behavior you’d like to affect. Human data is about customers’ emotions, aspirations, motivations and goals. Layering this human data with quantitative data enables us to develop an experience-based differentiation for our service or product.
Aliza's talk will explore the convergence of big data and human data. It will illustrate how the most successful companies employ human data to deliver experiences that customers embrace and love, experiences that also deliver outstanding business results.
The UX of Your Day Job: How to Remove Organizational Friction
Speaker: Charlie Trotter, Sr. UX Designer, projekt202
2 - 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016
Whether through a formal research phase or careful observation in their day-to-day work, UX designers invariably uncover organization-level roadblocks to good UX practices. It’s more than politics, though. It’s about how people are measured, rewarded and disciplined from role to role that can create unnecessary cross-purposes that ultimately ship bad software.
The organizations in which we work are systems that people must navigate to complete their tasks. UX designers are skilled at spotting patterns and inconsistencies, reconciling conflicts, and presenting findings and solutions clearly and persuasively. In this presentation, Charlie will offer strategic tips and starting points for discovering gaps in the org chart, and presenting the findings.
UX = ROI: It's Not Just a Myth
Speaker: Jeremy Johnson, VP of CX, projekt202
1 - 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016
Of his upcoming presentation, Jeremy said, "User experience has a direct impact on your bottom line and it’s about time we start telling execs about UX in their own language. I’m sure many of you spend a good amount of time evangelizing what it is that you do and the value it adds. Over the past 15 years, I’ve introduced user experience to everyone from CEOs to developers — using storytelling, metrics and case studies that can prove without a doubt the value that you bring."
In this talk, Jeremy will illustrate the UX metrics to track, how to position your work, and stories where user experience directly impacted the bottom line.
